CALL IT a late Christmas present but Stanford athlete, Hayley McLean has been awarded key funding in her bid for glory in 2014.
The Bruce Longden Community Foundation (BLCF) said: “BLCF is absolutely delighted to announce that Hayley McLean (GB), the 2013 European Junior 400m Hurdles Champion, is the first GB athlete to receive support from the Foundation, by way of initial assistance to her warm weather training costs later this month.
“We wish Hayley all the best in her preparations to gain both the Commonwealth Games and European Championship qualifying times later on in the year”.
Bruce Longden was the coach of Olympic champion Sally Gunnell. He passed away in 2012.
The key part of a British athletes winter training is the conditioning work they are able to put in down in the Algarve or Spain.
Hayley, who is now a full time athlete, said: ” I am so delighted to receive support from the foundation.Thank you”.
