BETWEEN Monday (6 January) and Friday (10 January) Thurrock Council’s waste team offered to take away people’s unwanted small electrical items free of charge.
They were taken to be safely stripped for recoverable parts and then shredded into new material. Over 97 per cent of the material from an old electrical item can be recycled into a new one.
On Tuesday (7 January) the team were at Morrisons in Grays where Ali Stanford, the council’s waste and recycling education officer is pictured with the store’s assistant manager, Cy Honeyman.
