A VETERAN Tory councillor has tabled a question to the leader of Thurrock Council regarding plans for a football stadium in Blackshots.
Little Thurrock Blackshots councillor, Joy Redsell has asked:
“Following the announcement that planning permission has been granted to develop housing on the site of the former London Fire Brigade Sports and Social club at Aveley, Woodview residents are concerned that this means a sports stadium will now be developed on the Treetops School playing field.
“Can the Leader advise what meetings or other communications have taken place between Officers or Members of Thurrock Council and Grays Athletic Football Club regarding this site or any other locations for a new stadium?”
The meeting of the full council will take place on Wednesday January 22nd at 7pm in the main chamber of the civic offices.
Of course Grays Athletics fans should be congratulating Cllr Joy Redsell for ensuring that plans for a sports hub were included in Thurrock’s Local Development Framework.
It should be remembered that when Cllr Joy Redsell was Portfolio Holder it was her report to Cabinet on 6th August 2008 that set the whole ball rolling.
How proud Cllr Redsell must be that her report back in 2008 is at last on the verge of bearing fruit.
As somebody who spends a lot of time in woodview, i cant see why they would be worried about any potential developments nowhere near them? They should be more worried about the recent thefts in the area which seem to have started again 🙁
Unless of course the report meant woodside?
Have I missed something, didn’t the planning application for the Firemans Club have to be passed by central government? has this already been done and dusted, all the talk of Grays FC moving to Treetops may be a waste of time unless the full approval is given for Aveley.
Begs the question why is councillor Redsell asking for answers if no planning decision has been made, stirring the pot would appear to be the answer.
