“Enough!” says top councillor after another assault in Chafford Hundred

SENIOR Thurrock Councillor, Tunde Ojetla has responded angrily to the news that a young girl in his ward was mugged.

It is clear that the community minded councillor feels very angry about the incident and other incidents around his ward in Chafford Hundred.

Cllr Ojetola said:

“Very recently, a young girl was walking home from work after her long shift. It was around 10pm and she only lived 10 minutes away so the walk shouldn’t be eventful.

Little did she know that only a few yards from her home, muggers lay in waiting.

As she turned the last corner to her home, she heard footsteps behind her. As she turned to investigate she was accosted by two young men in hoods. They demanded her mobile phone, which, shocked, she gave them, hoping and praying that was it.

The boys turned to depart, but not before one of them gave her a thump right in the face.

Such a horrifying but true incident.

Why should our young people be subject to these types of attacks? Why should people be scared to walk at night in their own community?

I know the Police are doing their best, but more still needs to be done to protect residents of Chafford Hundred and Thurrock.

I am sure the Police would like you to contact them if you hear of any crime.

Let us all work together to say ‘Enough!’ to those who would rather make us live in fear; Enough to those who prey innocent people going about their legitimate business.

“Enough said!”
