THURROCK Council’s next cabinet meeting will be held in Purfleet.

The meeting – on Wednesday, 12 February, will be at the West Wing, High House Production Park, Vellacott Close, starting at 7pm.
Council Leader, Cllr John Kent, said: “We did try to get out and about into local communities with cabinet and directors’ board members visiting various areas for a year.

“We’ve also said that council meetings should be more accessible for local people to attend. They shouldn’t always have to make their way into Grays to see and scrutinise the democratic process.

“February’s cabinet will be in Purfleet and the meeting is open to all. The agenda will be available on the council’s website – under council and democracy – a week before the meeting.”

Thurrock Council is also looking at the possibility of holding further meetings elsewhere in the borough over the coming months.

  1. Hello there gimmick!

Or maybe I am being judgmental. Maybe this is a really good thing, if for example there is a lot of Purfleet-related items on the agenda? If not, then it’s a gimmick.

The leader could have used his press release to remind everyone they can listen to recordings of meetings online. The leader could have made a commitment to film/stream council meetings, like many other councils. Instead, gimmick.
