War of words over Corringham Police Station continues

A LEADING Thurrock Conservative councillor has accused the Labour administration of actively encouraging the closure of Corringham Police Station.

The war of words between Stanford East councillor, Phil Anderson and portfolio holder for public protection, cllr Angie Gaywood came during a meeting of the full council at the civic offices.

Cllr Gaywood laid into the Conservative councillors in Stanford, Homesteads, Corringham and Fobbing as she proudly reeled off her record of contact and engagement with a number of relevant parties in the criminal justice sphere, whilst pointing out the low-profile of the Tories.

  1. Essex has a Conservative Police Commissioner. Perhaps Conservative Cllr Anderson should have a chat with his Conservative colleague regarding his Conservative Police Commissioners decision to close the Police Station. Labour didn’t close the Police Station – the Conservative Police Commissioner closing and selling off the building. It doesn’t matter how much deluded Cllr Anderson tries and blame Labour and tries and spin that it is Labour’s fault – it was a Conservative decision.
