A LOCAL woman and author will be speaking about her journey of trying to make sense of her abuse by her stepfather, and discuses the consequences of that abuse later this month.
Thurrock Council’s library service and the South Ockendon Centre have arranged tghat Sharon McGovern, local author of Afraid will be at the centre in Derry Avenue on Thursday, 13 March at 7.30pm.
Sharon’s life story is realistic but also hugely positive. She is an inspirational speaker who has never allowed herself to be a victim – indeed she sees herself as a survivor.
Her motto is “Change the way you think to change the way you feel”.
This is an opportunity to meet Sharon and listen to her inspiring and challenging story. There will be light refreshments, books to borrow, time for questions and some relevant local organisations will also be present.
