Two arrested following shooting in Chafford Hundred

DETECTIVES in Grays are appealing for information after an incident in Lions Gorge in Chafford Hundred where a 13-year-old boy was injured by an air weapon.

It happened at around 6.15pm yesterday (Thursday, April 10) in the fishing lakes area near Devonshire Road.

The teenager, who is local to the area, ended up with a pellet in his arm and will require surgery.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen what happened.

Dc Adam Stallard, of Grays CID, said: “The area is a popular fishing spot and young people do like to hang around there. We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened or who has any further information.”

A 24-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope and a 24-year-old man, who did not give an address, were arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident. They are helping officers with their enquiries at Grays Police Station.
