POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a road crash in Thurrock which claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
The collision happened near Orsett when the rider of white Honda motorcycle appears to have lost control of the machine while travelling on the southbound carriageway of the A1089 and struck a series of fence posts on the left-hand side of the carriageway and ended up in a field. This happened shortly after 7pm on Saturday, May 3. The rider had moments earlier been travelling on the eastbound carriageway of the A13.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the rider, a man in his 30s from the Grays area, was certified dead at the scene.
A section of the road was closed for approximately five hours while forensic collision investigators tried to establish the cause of the crash and debris was cleared away.
