THE 2014 Thurrock Art Trail is gathering momentum as more groups and venues show an interest.
The Thurrock Art Trail is taking place at various locations around the borough between Saturday 6th and Sunday 21st September.
“Six groups have indicated their intention to be involved in the past week, bringing the current total to ten,” said Tim Harrold, part of the organising group. “This is tremendously exciting, but we believe there’s still more artists out there who’d love the opportunity to show their work.”
The Thurrock Art Trail is also part of the annual Essex Summer of Art which launches in Harlow on 4th June and continues right into October.
Local venues so far range from the High House Artists’ Studios to an ordinary garage – with churches, a pub, a community house and a small gallery in between.
The art on show will be of every kind: painting, sculpture, crafts; traditional, contemporary; landscape, figurative, abstract; realistic, surreal; professional and amateur.
Thurrock towns and villages represented so far include Purfleet, South Ockendon, North Stifford, Grays, Horndon-on-the-Hill and Stanford-le-Hope.
“We’d welcome some photography,” continued Tim, “and we’d love to see more of the boroughs towns and villages get involved.”
Individual artists are encouraged to link with a group or find somewhere to display their work. “It’s all very self-determining. We’ll provide the publicity through brochures, posters, press releases and the internet in return for the details of your event,” said Tim, “and then art-lovers from Thurrock and beyond can follow a trail of discovery and the unexpected.”
Closing date to register your interest is 23rd May. Details required are venue, date or dates, opening times, contact details, brief description of type of art on show, and title of display or theme if you have one.
