farageock“WE are here to stay!” says UKIP leader Nigel Farage as he undertook a walkabout in Derwent Parade just hours after the party won five seats in Thurrock.

Thurrock UKIP did stunningly well in the whole of the south of Essex and so it was obvious that their leader, headed to the borough to congratulate the troops.

Mr Farage was met by director of policy, Tim Aker as well as the new councillors, Jan Baker, Chris Baker, Maggie Ray, Graham Snell and Roy Jones.

In a media scrum, Mr Farage said: “This is a fantastic result and there is still a day and an evening to go in the local elections and then the european count on Sunday.

“If they doubted that we are not here to stay then they will believe us now. What Essex and Thurrock shows is what you can do with a great local team working hard.

  1. Wouldn’t it be great if Nigel Farage himself contested against JDP in Thurrock at the next general election!

  2. I agree with Vince on that one. I also noticed that while Farage was filmed in Ockendon he went elsewhere to be filmed with his pint. I wonder why he didn’t have a pint in Ockendon? He was right outside a pub there.
I hope the people who voted for this ukip scum get what they deserve! They will do nothing for the people of Thurrock.

  3. Jmw… You dont understand my comment regarding ukip scum? I suppose I really mean racist scum! That is what they are, this is proven by the likes of Robert Ray who was an organising officer for the National Front in the past. He is obviously a racist and it is a disgrace that he is an elected official in Thurrock! I cannot comprehend how any normal thinking person can vote for this sort of garbage in the run up to the 70th anniversary of D-Day!

  4. i publically challenge Nigel Farage to keep promise to get rid any far right members in he’s team

  5. Racists scum. I don’t think so yardbird. Robert Ray may have been in the BNP but thankfully has had the common sense to realise the nature of who they really are, they are the true party who can be classed as, ‘raciest scum’.

A lot of people are completely disillusioned with the EU, why are we getting outsiders to make decisions for us that should be made by our elected MPs in Westminster? It makes no sense. They may make up rubbish laws, but at least it is made by MPs whom we elect, not by people many miles away who are not answerable to the general public and whom we cannot get rid of.

The big problem that UKIP have in my opinion is that the people who vote for them appear, when interviewed on TV, do appear to have racists leanings – these people really ought to be voting for the BNP.

UKIP came into existence in order to extricate the UK from the EU. They are fed up with being dictated to by Europe, and it is not just all about immigration, although that is obviously the bit that attracts the headlines.

If I want to eat a curved banana or curved cucumber, why should I be denied that pleasure by some people in the EU? Stupid laws made by stupid EU politicians.

    This makes interesting reading.

  6. Every time someone like Yardbird accuses UKIP of being racist it actually hands the party more votes.

The emergence of UKIP as a political force says more about the three main parties’ lack of understanding of the feelings in Modern Britain. All three main parties are guilty of ignoring the electorate and all three parties are now suffering electorally due to the rise of UKIP.

There is nothing racist about wanting the best for the UK.
There is nothing racist about wanting politicians to put the UK first.
There is nothing racist about expecting migrants that want to work in the UK to integrate.
There is nothing racist about expecting everybody in the UK to have a strong grasp of the English language.
There is nothing racist about flying our country flags.
There is nothing racist about wanting to stop the creation of urban ghettos.
There is nothing racist in wanting to ensure that doctors, dentists, schools, hospitals, council housing, colleges etc etc can cope with our continued population growth.
There is nothing racist about having a rigid immigration system which allows the best people to come here and limits the lower skilled numbers to give British born workers a greater chance.

If you look for racism you will find it in anything. Yes UKIP do have some stupid candidates who say stupid things, yes they can appear too ‘leader heavy’ and yes as a party they are far less slick than the Tories, Labour or the Libs.

However this makes them look more real.

We all say stupid things, or believe(d) in outdated views (Cllr Ray) but UKIP gain credibility as they are daring enough to ask tough questions. I’m not so sure on some of their other policies but when it comes down to Europe and Immigration UKIP are spot on.
