Boy arrested after stone thrown from bridge smashes car windscreen

A 12-year-old boy was arrested after an object thrown from a bridge in Thurrock cracked a van’s windscreen.

Police were called shortly before 2.30pm on Saturday June 7 after the driver reported an object hitting the vehicle while he was travelling towards Tilbury on the A1089 Dock Approach Road, at Chadwell St Mary.

The driver who is from Westcliff, reported that the windscreen was damaged by a stone or similar object thrown from a bridge just after he had left the A13.

A 12-year-old boy from Grays was arrested in Chadwell St Mary a short time later. He was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage.

He was bailed until August 12 pending further enquiries.
