NGAGE – the community organisation and volunteer centre for Thurrock – held a Mad Hatters Tea Party in partnership with Thurrock CVS to thank volunteers who have supported both organisations, and events/projects over the past year.
The event was held in Volunteers Week, which is a national annual celebration of the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK.
Laura Hudson, ngage Volunteer Coordinator said “Volunteers can make such a difference to many groups and organisations, and we wanted to say thank you for all the hard work and commitment that volunteers have given to ngage, We would also like to extend our thanks to the Mayor of Thurrock for coming along and handing out the certificates to the volunteers”.
Other Volunteer Week activities included a Strawberry Fayre at the newly launched Chadwell St Mary Centre, a VC local event at South Ockendon Centre and a Community Rights workshop. Timebanking was also promoted throughout the week and we were able to gain 100 names of people who expressed of interest in becoming Timebanking members once the project is launched later this year.
Volunteer Centre Thurrock is currently recruiting volunteers to help out at the T Fest event on 26th and 27th July, Stanford Music festival on 5th July, Big Lunch on 30th July, WW1 Commemorative event 4th August and many more.
