Thurrock Writers Circle: June report

Thurrock Writers Circle report June 2014

JUNE has been a good month for the Thurrock Writers Circle

The Thurrock Writers Festival held at the Grays Library was a big success, Cindy Barber one of our members won the short story competition for the adult section with her 1914 story.

In the eleven to eighteen section of the competition another member’s daughter Helen Grimshaw was a winner with her twist in the tale short story.

Especially encouraging was the amount of young people who came to the children’s workshop.

Chairman Joy Ridgewell thanked Head Librarian Rachel Galleyhawk and her staff for all their hard work in making this event such a good day.

This summer there is to be a competition entitled memories as a tribute to founder member Lilian Troy who died recently.

Work was read out and another aspect of writing was introduced for members to practice and develop. Several poetry websites were brought to members notice to submit work to be put onto the internet.
