Female driver punched in face several times in attack in South Ockendon

A FEMALE driver was punched in the face “several times” during a vicious attack by a man who was a passenger in a car behind.

The attack took place at just before 9.30 am on Wednesday morning.

The woman in her twenties was travelling in a white Range Rover on West Road, South Ockendon.

As she approached the junction of Arisdale Avenue she slowed to queue in traffic.

A male passenger, travelling in a dark coloured car behind got out, approached her and punched her in the face several times.

He then returned to the car, which sped off towards the M25.

A police spokesman said: “The woman, in her 20s, was treated by paramedics for minor injuries and shock. She has provided police officers with a statement.

“CCTV in the area is being reviewed. It is unclear at this stage what the motive is behind the attack.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at Grays police station on 101.”
