Stanford-le-Hope 2nd XI – 200-7
Ardleigh Green 2nd XI – 199-9

Stanford won

STANFORD successfully chased down a target of 200 to earn a vital third victory of the season against Ardleigh Green.

After opting to bat first the visitors got off to a positive start with the top three batsman all getting starts.
However, it was skipper Cason who made the biggest contribution of Ardleigh Green’s innings with 85 not out.

Matt Higgins picking up another five wicket haul with figures of 5-71 off 16 overs.

With dark clouds looming all afternoon Stanford knew it could be a battle against the elements as well as the Ardleigh Green bowling attack. The rain didn’t fall but early wickets did. Stanford found themselves four wickets down with less than 50 on the board. But opener Alex Ellis (46) and captain Drew Robinson (42 not out) managed to steady the innings and set a platform. When Ellis was caught with the target within 100 runs and 20 overs left in the game it was down to Adam Knight (48) and Robinson to bring home the 20 points.
