Police want to trace woman in “floral hijab” after elderly victim has hundred stolen at Grays ATM

POLICE are investigating the theft of a debit card from a man in Grays. The elderly victim was taking cash from an ATM on Clarence Road on June 6 when a man and woman approached him. Whilst the female suspect distracted the victim by talking to him, the male suspect, having stolen his card, immediately went to another cashpoint in Grays and withdrew £300.

The male suspect is described as Latin American, in his mid-40s, of medium build, around 5 ft 8 ins in height and with slightly grey hair. He was seen wearing blue jeans, a blue baseball cap and a dark rugby style shirt with horizontal white stripes.

The female suspect is described as in her early 20s, of slim build with dark hair and of 5 ft 3 ins in height. She was wearing blue jeans with a dark jacket and a floral hijab. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Makin at Grays CID on 101 or via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
