AS PART of the Thurrock International Celebration of Culture Festival, taking place in Grays on Saturday, 19 July, the Grays Shopping Centre has organized some traditional entertainment for families visiting the Town.
With shows throughout the day, the entertainment features scenes of marital strife, frenzied sausage eating, a policeman and a baby.
Experienced puppeteer, Tony Drewitt – a member of the Magic Circle and member of the Concert Artists Association, will bring Punch & Judy to life at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm.
The Punch and Judy was Uncle George Wallmans’ from Blackpool – one of England’s leading children’s entertainers for more than thirty years who made most of his own props and puppets and completely refurbished by Bryan Clarke.
“There will be a wide variety of activities taking place in the Town on Saturday, and in addition to our Punch & Judy shows in the Centre,” said Keith Evans, Manager of the Grays Shopping Centre, “visitors to Grays can enjoy performances by The Grand Theatre of Lemmings, Comedic Capers, the Creative Blast Performing Arts Academy, Thurrock Asian Association Dance Troupe and Golden Voices. It promises to be a very entertaining day for the Town.”
