Thousands left disappointed as Essex Fest cancelled after “licence pulled”

A TWO DAY music festival in Thurrock that had hoped to attract over 10,000 visitors has been cancelled.

Essex Fest was set to go ahead on the Orsett Showground on Saturday July 19th and Sunday July 20th.

It had lined up a number of top acts including Ms Dynamite, Misha B and Jhene Aiko.

Thurrock Council had given the green light to the festival in May but had nailed on a number of conditions to the licence.

YT now understands that a number of those licensing conditions have not been fulfilled.

Thurrock Council had announced a large number of road closures for the Thurrock area on July 4th.

Essex Fest were still selling tickets on Sunday July 13th.

However they issued a press statement on their twitter page on Monday afternoon which stated:

“It is with deep regret Essexfest2014 has been cancelled due to council officials and police withdrawing our licence.”

Many will now want to know how they will be able to get their money back.

More to follow.

YT attended the licensing meeting at Thurrock Council when organiser, Milford Parker of South Ockendon made his application.
