OVER 50 parents,students and members of their sponsoring club ‘The Rotary Club of Thurrock Gateway’ spent a wonderful evening at the Charter event for The Interact Club of Gable Hall on Thursday (17 July) evening in sweltering conditions in the school hall.
The evening was opened by Master of Ceremonies Frank Claydon welcoming everyone to this very prestigious evening. Rotary Immediate
Past President Peter Dowse spoke briefly about this young and dynamic club before Thurrock Gateway President Claire Pavitt presented Interact President Keira Hambleton with her ‘Jewel of Office’ and the clubs Charter certificate from Rotary International.
It was then the turn of each individual Interact Charter member to receive their club pin-badge and membership card from President Claire.
The evening’s formalities were closed by Dr Sophina Asong addressing the gathering and praising the splendid work of this caring group of students who have already raised hundreds of pounds for various charities including St Lukes Hospice, The Karis May Darling foundation and Internationally a WaterAid Project.
The guests then enjoyed a buffet supper with refreshments supplied by the Rotary Club of Thurrock Gateway. Never to miss an opportunity the students raised just over £51 with a cake sale during the evening.
