SLOWLY but surely, every aspect of funding given out by Thurrock Council is under scrutiny and it appears that nowhere is off limits.
With the challenge of finding £37.7 million worth of cuts over the next three years, Thurrock Council are now looking at the funding they give to Thurrock Women’s Aid.
According to Thurrock Council, funding between 2011 and 2015 was a constant £244,194 a year.
However, the first cuts are to be made.
In 2015-16, there will a be a cut of £46,000 reduction in provision of children’s support services at Women’s Aid refuge.
Politically, YT understands that these have been difficult years for Thurrock Women’s Aid with a number of internal problems and a series of crisis meetings with the council.
With nearly 10% of all calls to the police at the weekend, domestic related, we will follow this particular funding cut with interest.
