Springfield 191-2
Thurrock 190-8
THURROCK were comprehensively defeated by eight wickets away to top of the table Springfield.
The visitors batted first and posted a competitive total of 190 from their 45 overs. Captain Nick Henry top scored with 63 which included seven boundaries, while fellow opener Umar Ayub made 31. Daniel Laird also hit 45 as the first team made what on paper was a very defendable score. Simon Dance took 3-30 for Springfield, one of which was the key wicket of Henry.
However, the hosts made incredibly light work in knocking off the runs, reaching the 191 required in comfortable fashion with a mammoth 19.4 overs to spare, for the loss of just two wickets. Charlie Prudence made a sparkling 120 not out with Manpreet Singh adding 35 before he was trapped lbw by Dean Henry.
After this loss, Thurrock remain fifth in the Premier Division with three matches left in the season.
