WITH September just around the corner, this might be a good time to keep up those fitness regimes or start a new one.

Why not combine, fitness with social life. Why not join the Chafford Hundred Running Group?

The Chafford Hundred Running Group is a friendly, fun, sociable, non-competitive running group, specifically designed for anyone who just simply wants to enjoy the benefits of running.

The group has a very varied member base from complete beginners to the more experienced/regular runners.

The group meets every day except Fridays and Saturdays and offers a number of different sessions from Hill Run sessions to longer distances.

Throughout the year they run a number of different training plans. This year they have completed two Couch to 5K training plans, which attracted around 100 new runners to the group. The group is currently now part way through a Half Marathon Training plan with the hope that its members will be participating in a number of Autumn events.

The group was set up by Vanessa Papworth who is supported by Michelle Hoey, Sam Woodford, Lubna Ali and Karen Smith all of whom have completed the Run England Leadership Course and are all fully registered and DBS checked with UKA.

All their leaders are there to help, support and motivate new and regular runners and work with the group to make it a friendly environment.

They are currently seeking two new leaders to assist with your group so that we can offer even more sessions, specifically the Couch to 5k training plan.

The group is completely free of charge there aren’t any joining fees or subs. To join you just need to complete a registration form, post on their facebook page and turn up to run!

If you are not quite ready for running just yet or are waiting for our next Couch to 5k to start then join Michelle for our walking group on a Monday evening, which is a great introduction to our group. The walking group cover around 5k and is a brisk walk and not a leisurely stroll.
