THE CHIEF Constable of Essex has scraped the watchdogs that advise the police on how they perform.
The Strategic Independent Advisory Groups (IAG) meet all over Essex. They are drawn from a number of sections of society and give the police feedback.
However, whilst some seem to develop a good relationship as critical friends to the police, others have, it is alleged, been something of a challenge for the police.
In a letter seen by YT, the chief constable, Stephen Kavanagh, thanks the members of the IAG for all their work.
The chief said: "For sometime, I have been concerned that the IAGs have not reflected the diverse nature and complex needs of Essex.
I have therefore made the decision to disband the Essex IAG with immediate effect….and assure you that a more representative group will be developed in the autumn.
