THIS past weekend at Charleville Castle in Ireland, a new international organisation opened it’s doors under the logo and identity designed by Thurrock-based creative agency Pixelwork.

The Explorers Museum, whose patron is Sir Ranulph Fiennes, was officially launched at a large inaugural ceremony and featured hosts and dignitaries from around the globe.

The brain child of former NY based Explorers Club President Lorie Karnath and Explorers Bureau founder Tim Lavery the organisation has it’s core mission as :

"This not for profit venture will serve to promote exploration through recognition of significant expeditions and discoveries. It will also curate special exhibits featuring feats and historical achievements. Charleville Castle will serve both as the museum’s exhibition space as well as its global expedition base for launching new expedition projects."

Matt Harris, as a board member of the organisation, was invited to the event :

“We were asked to design the brand and look and feel for the organisation at the beginning of the year and loved the challenge of getting into such a great initiative from it’s very inception.

"Knowing that Sir Ran was on board also adds considerable kudos to such an organisation. Of course he’s been a hero of mine, along with many others, since I read “Living Dangerously” at the age of 16 and so to get the opportunity to chat with him as a fellow explorer was really something special, although he’s definitely trumped me on that front.

"Alongside Sir Ran were some incredible guests, all who’ve achieved some amazing things in the fields of medicine and exploration including 90 year old Jesse Ternberg who was one of the world’s greatest surgeons of her day and a pioneer in the field of paediatric surgery. It was humbling to have been in the attendance of such remarkable people."
