Stanford RFC weekend round up
Stanford 1st team opened up their league account with a good solid win away to Loughton RFC 8 -36. Stanford took a while to hit their stride but the 2nd half saw Stanford score 24 unanswered points.
Stanford try scorers were Liam Morley x 2, Sonny Smith, Dan May, Matt Rumble and Jared Gounden. Conversions coming from Kyle Munro & Matt Greenhill. Man of the Match for Stanford was award to Sean Thompson for an outstanding committed game.

Stanford 2nd team came close but lost out in the dying minutes of the game at home against Old Cooperians III 15 – 29. A positive start to the season despite the loss Stanford played some good rugby. Try scores were Reece Anderson x 2 and Matt Hornsby. Man of the match for Stanford was debutant Luke Corrie playing his first ever game of competitive rugby at prop.

Stanford Ladies (Sirens) put up a brave fight and lead the game during the 2nd half but visitors Canterbury ran in 3 very late and quick tries to win 17 – 32. Stanford had several new players having their first run out and the structure and team play was extremely encouraging for future outings. Stanford’s try scorers were Kirsty Moore x 2, Stephanie Witham 1 and Jessica Chegwidden converting on her Stanford Debut.

Stanford U16s travelled to play a friendly against Chelmsford, the size of the Chelmsford team was over whelming but a spirited Stanford side tried their hardest. Chelmsford took the win 44 – 7. Stanford’s try scorer was Jack Heald. Stanford’s man of the match was Elliot Sharratt who played his 1st match at Full back.

Stanford U15s travelled to play Kent side Sidcup RFC and just took the win with 1 minute to play after an exciting close match. Stanford’s try scorers were Joe Duligall, Kieran Claydon, Matthew Hook and Jamie Wooffitt. Stanford’s man of the match was Ross Gale for his constant dogged tackling and attacking play.
