Laughing Pod about to hatch at Orsett Hall

ORSETT HALL are set to bring their comedy nights back with the launch of The Laughing Pod Comedy Club on Saturday 18 October 2014 with this great line up:

Patrick Monahan – Winner of ITV’s ‘Show Me The Funny’

Patrick Monahan started off on the glamourous Irish/Iranian/Georgie circuit in his native home land of the North East of England, before being invited to perform all over the world, from as far away as the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2011 in Australia, to Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Barbados, St Lucia, St Vincent, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Estonia, Ireland, Germany, to the Edinburgh International Festival and various venues and Comedy Clubs up and down the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall in London!

Patrick really hit our screens when he won ITV’s Show Me The Funny and most recently appeared in ITV’s Splash & BBC 1 Dance for sports relief

Andrew Lawrence – as seen on Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow & CH4 Stand Up of the Week

Lawrence’s act exploits his range of voices, includes references to his ginger hair and songs performed on an acoustic guitar. His university debut led on to the Edinburgh fringe, where he was runner up in the 2003 So You Think You’re Funny competition. Subsequent wins of the Amused Moose Starsearch, York Comedy Festival New Act of the Year Competition and the BBC’s New Act of the Year Competition in 2004 confirmed him as an emerging talent on the UK comedy scene.

He presented his first hour-long comedy show at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe entitled How to Butcher your Loved Ones. It was nominated for the if.comeddie award (as it was known for that year only) for Best Newcomer. He has returned to the Fringe every year since then and become an established name on the circuit and on television, recently appearing on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Dave’s One Night Stand and Live at the Apollo.

Simon Evans – as seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow & CH4 Stand Up of the Week

Hugely popular both in Comedy Clubs and on the After-Dinner and Corporate circuit, Evans excels in routines that are adult in the best sense of the word, prompting reviewers to describe him as ‘demonically dry’ by Dominic Maxwell, Metro and ‘sublime’ William Cook, The Guardian.

Evans is well respected by his peers. He’s the writer of choice for Dara O’Briain, Sean Lock, Jimmy Carr, Marcus Brigstocke and Lee Mack among others. He is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4 as a regular on The News Quiz, The Unbelieveable Truth and Armando Iannucci’s Charm Offensive. Evans has anchored and written seven series of the news satire The Way It Is. He’s also laboured bravely in the face of ultimately overwhelming opposition as part of the Comedian’s team on University Challenge – The Professionals. Most recently, Simon has appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow & CH4 Stand Up of the Week.
