SOUTH Essex College’s new Thurrock Campus held its first ever Fresher’s fair on Monday morning.
Students at the Grays town centre college were treated to freebies and information from many local businesses and community groups.
Guests included Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price on the Conservative campaign trail. She spoke to students about the general election and encouraged them to volunteer for the party.
intu Lakeside were also present at the event promoting their student discount night on Wednesday 8 October, where students can save up to 50% in a variety of stores and restaurants.
More discount deals were available from Grays Shopping Centre and c2c, plus Barclays and Santander were there to offer money advice to students.
Hollie Perkins, 17, who is studying for a CACHE Childcare and Education Level 3 Diploma at the new Thurrock Campus, really enjoyed the fair. She said: “I’ve got a great selection of freebies and maybe found myself some part-time work in the process, as a South Essex College Student Ambassador.”
Other exhibitors included Shake Away, The Backstage Centre and Festival Leisure Park, Basildon. The College’s next Fresher’s Fair will be held at the Southend Campus on Thursday 2 October.
