    A HUNDRED years ago, Private Charles Harness was killed in action.

    Private Charles Peire Harness of High Street, Aveley, served with the 4th Btn.

    The Royal Fusiliers were amongst the first troops to be sent to Belgium at the outbreak of WW1.

    Charles was reported MISSING presumed Killed In Action during ‘The Battle of the Marne’ on the 26th September 1914.

    Charles is commemorated on the Memorial at LA FERTE-SOUS-JOUARRE in France.
