By avoiding certain drinks and opting for a low-calorie cocktail, you could still have a great time without putting on too many pounds.
A low-calorie cocktail can still be delicious, after all you need to enjoy it. Simply by combining the right ingredients you can create a tasty drink that will see you through the party period.
Here are a few you might like to try:
Gin Twist (86 calories)
1oz gin; Â½oz lemon juice; dash of Turbinado sugar; egg white
Shake Plymouth gin with fresh lemon juice, a touch of sugar and fresh egg whites. Add a lemon twist to decorate.
Strawberry Daiquiri (65 calories)
50ml rum; 25ml lime juice; 50ml calorie free strawberry syrup; a handful of crushed ice.
Blend the rum, lime juice, syrup and ice until smooth. Serve in a martini glass and top with strawberries for a refreshing cocktail that originates from Cuba.
Pina Colada (72 calories)
Â½ oz fat free Greek yoghurt; Â½ oz skimmed milk; 1Â½ oz ice; Â½ oz light rum; Â½ oz cubed pineapple; Â½ oz coconut cream.
Combine the Greek yoghurt, milk, ice, light rum, cubed pineapple and coconut cream. Mix all of the ingredients in a blender and pour into a tall glass to serve. Nice and easy does it.
Sugar-free Margarita (170 calories)
35ml tequila; 4 tbsp water, Â¼ tsp orange extract, 1 tbsp artificial sweetener; 15ml lemon or lime juice.
Use a blender to combine the tequila, water, orange extract, sweetener and lemon or lime juice. Serve over cubed ice.
Pimms and Lemondade (50 calories)
Use one part Pimms to three parts diet lemonade, stir in some mint cucumber and ice before serving.
Bloody Mary (118 calories)
3 tbsp Vodka; dash Tabasco sauce; dash Worcester sauce; tbsp lemon juice; 150ml tomato juice, sprinkle salt; freshly ground pepper to taste.
Mix the Vodka, tomato juice and lemon juice in a tall glass. Stir in the flavouring, adjusting to suit, add some ice cubes and garnish with a lemon wedge.
Sugar-free Mojito (160 calories)
8 mint leaves; 2 tbsp lime juice; heaped tbsp artificial sweetener; ice; 1Â½ oz White Rum; club soda
Put the mint leaves, lime juice and artificial sweetener into the bottom of a tall glass. Mash the ingredients together then fill the glass about three quarters of the way with ice. Add the rum and top with club soda. Stir and enjoy.
Partridge in a Prickly Pear (189 calories)
2oz Campari; Â¾ oz prickly pear purÃ©e;1 Â½ oz aromatic white wine.
Add the Campari and pear puree to ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled neat glass. Top with the white wine.
Sea Breeze (180 calories)
If you like vodka-cranberry then this drink should suit you. Mix 4oz of grapefruit juice, 1.5 oz of cranberry juice and 1oz of vodka.
And remember, a 4oz glass of bubbly is only 85 calories, that’s about 15 calories less than a 4oz glass or wine. Cheers!
