Rugby: Last gaps agony for Thurrock

Luton 31 v 28 Thurrock

THURROCK’S first ever trip to Luton ended in defeat in heart breaking fashion when conceding an injury time try and conversion, it was a rather a hard to take defeat as Thurrock had cruised into 21-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, tries from Hagen Mumba, Kealan Henry and Jordan Thorne all converted by Mumba see the visitors well in control of the game.

Luton did get on the score sheet scoring a converted try albeit the ball was dropped over the line and unseen by the referee, a decision that would eventually haunt them. Nathan Farrell then scored the bonus point try two minutes from the break again Mumba added the extra’s to lead 28-7 at the break.

However a knee into the back of scrum half Alex Jones unsettled Thurrock pattern and the second half Thurrock were kept pinned in their own half and slowly the home side chipped away at the deficit, and got back to 24-28 with three further tries, but Thurrock had to play the last 10 minutes with 14 men and were made to pay for the numerical disadvantage for the home side to snatch victory.

This week Thurrock host LETCHWORTH with a 3pm kick off at Oakfield
