Thurrock Swimming Club receive Jack Petchey accreditation

THURROCK Swimming Club are pleased to announce that they have recently been accepted for a Jack Petchey scheme upgrade and are now on the Silver Scheme enabling the Club to present 6 awards each year in the sum of £200 each enabling the club to spend funds of £1200 per year on club projects, activities, and equipment.

Friday 7 November, saw the presentations of two of the awards under the new scheme.

Marc Butcher, the Club Olympic 1 coach was nominated by the Club’s Chief Coach, Paul Robbins. The nomination was for loyalty, hard work and commitment to the club.

The presentation was awarded close to the first anniversary of the passing of the Club’s former Head Coach Alan Mitchell.

Abigayle Still was presented with her Jack Petchey award having been nominated by a parent. The nomination was for great commitment and enthusiasm since she first joined Thurrock Swimming Club in May last year, and in that time has twice achieved Swimmer of the Month.

Abigayle has progressed steadily from the Club’s Olympic 1 Squad to the Olympic 2 Squad and most recently to the Clubs National Age Group Squad. She has trained diligently, consistently achieved PB’s in most races, encouraged younger members and has supported her fellow swimmers. Her most recent achievement was to be made the Club’s Girls Vice Captain.

Both award recipients are now deciding what to spend the £200 on – well done both
