A GROUP of Thurrock social workers have banded together to raise funds to support Ebola victims in Africa.
All monies collected from this event will be donated to Save The Children to assist their work in West Africa.
We are a group of eight Social Workers working for Thurrock Council who have been touched by the plight of children infected and affected by Ebola in West Africa. Children are quite vulnerable and many are being left as orphans and isolated in communities where Ebola currently carries a lot of stigma. As Social Workers working with children ourselves, we have decided to raise money for Save The Children UK who have projects in Sierra Leone and Liberia where they have treatment centres and also provide 21 day survival packs and psychosocial support for children orphaned by this deadly disease.
Social Workers Ebola Charity Ball is an event that we have organised to try and raise money and awareness for this worthy cause. Currently over 4000 lives have been lost to Ebola and the numbers keep rising. We are aware that the little we can do will go a long way towards supporting an already established organisation like Save the Children.
The Charity Ball will be held on the 22nd of November 2014 at Orsett Hall and Hotel and will start from 7pm to 1am. Tickets cost £50/head. There will be a raffle, DJ and auction. We aim to raise at least £5000 for this worthy cause.
