WASABI is set to serve up tasty dishes to shoppers as they open a brand new restaurant at intu Lakeside this November.
The Japanese food giant is opening at the Thurrock shopping centre on Saturday 22nd November, joining the food court on level three. Wasabi is just one of the new additions as part of a multi-million pound development at intu Lakeside, joining other new additions including Tortilla, Five Guys, Harper’s British Classics, Rhythm Kitchen, Nando’s, Thai Express and Patisserie Valerie.
Wasabi is famous for their distinctive Japanese cuisine, they serve up 12,000 portions of Chicken Katsu Curry each week and roll over one million individual pieces of sushi a month. The branch at intu Lakeside will mark a first for the restaurant chain as it will feature a hot soup counter, allowing diners to personalise their hot food with a variety of broths, protein veg and noodles, as well as a pick and mix sushi bar.
Donna Callander, marketing manager at intu Lakeside, said “We’re thrilled that Wasabi are joining intu Lakeside, just one of the newest additions to our food court. Shoppers will also soon be able to enjoy Gino D’Acampo’s My Pasta Bar and Olive Oil & Oregano as they are opening shortly.”
Dong Hyun Kim, founder of Wasabi, said “We’re delighted to be opening our branch in intu Lakeside and bringing top quality affordable Japanese food to Essex shoppers. With our bright, clean, modern Japanese style, Wasabi will offer a lunchtime alternative of sushi, salads, soups and authentic hot bento dishes, which we are confident will be popular with hungry shoppers in search of something new, different and healthy.”
The new store is creating more than 30 jobs in Thurrock, with all food made from scratch in-branch every day. The intu Lakeside opening is the third branch to open outside of London, with new restaurants in Leeds and New York earlier this year.
