Bulphan WI: November report

By Jan Curtis

BULPHAN WI have had busy month so far with President Janet laying a wreath at the war memorial on our behalf during the service on Remembrance Sunday at St. Mary-the-Virgin, Bulphan, several members also attended. This was followed with a visit by a group of members to the Poppy Factory in Richmond, a very timely & moving trip.

Unfortunately our scheduled speaker’s son was taken ill (he’s now recovering) so we had an improvised meeting discussing our middle names & why we were given them, past & present jobs then a singing performance by the ladies who have been attending the sessions with Doreen Potter the last one of which was the next day so they took the opportunity to rehearse a song with words written especially for her.

One of the members also bought along her lovely sewn crafts to sell during the break.

Later this month several members will be attending An Afternoon at the Proms at the Cliffs Pavilion.

Next month nearly all the members will be attending a Christmas meal at a local golf club.

We’ll be back in Bulphan Village Hall on Wednesday 14th January 2014 at 7.30pm for a talk by Steve Beechey on Bees a subject that the National Federation of WI’s strongly supports. Your first visit is free!
