THE UKIP candidate for Aveley and Uplands By-Election, Tim Aker has reacted with anger to Thurrock Conservative election literature which makes reference to his Turkish ancestry.

Mr Aker, who is also the East of England MEP, as well as the prospective parliamentary candidate for Thurrock.

The leaflet states: "Not content with three jobs UKIP’s Timur Aker now wants a fourth as Aveley councillor."

Mr Aker reacted on Twitter by stating: "Astonished the Conservatives would use the fact that my Dad is from Turkey as a reason to attack me.

"Didn’t expect them to stoop that low".

YT spoke to the Thurrock Conservative leader, Rob Gledhill who told us that questions should be directed to the election agent, cllr Mark Coxshall.

However, he did tell YT that he would be comfortable distributing the leaflet.

YT put a series of questions to both cllr Coxshall and the candidate, Teresa Webster but they had not replied at the time of publication.
