Gold star for South Essex College marketing team

SOUTH Essex College’s marketing team have won a prestigious national award for their current recruitment campaign.

The team was awarded the first place prize in the recruitment campaign category at the College Marketing Network’s FE First Awards, the industry’s answer to the Oscars.

The winning ‘our classroom, our playground, our homework’ campaign compares the College to a traditional school environment, showing prospective students the contemporary surroundings and atmosphere at the College.

The ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel in Bracknell. The team attended the bash and were treated to lots of praise for their entry.

Rachel Smith, Chief Executive, College Marketing Network, said: “The gold award in the recruitment campaign category for 2014 was recognised by the judges as the winner from the outset. Clear research, clear strategy and clear results for a campaign which targeted a new recruitment area for the College, supporting long term growth. A very well presented submission supported an exciting campaign which had real and lasting impact. Congratulations to South Essex College.”

Michael Bennett, Head of Marketing and Communications at the College, said: “Winning this award against stiff competition, and being recognised as the best college recruitment campaign in the country, is a wonderful boost for the department and the College. I am very proud of an outstanding team effort.”

On a daily basis, the team are responsible for the College’s marketing, advertising, events, PR, publication and graphic design needs.
