    Chatham 0 v 5 Aveley

AVELEY got off to a perfect start for 2015 when they thumped Kent rivals, Chatham, 5-0.

In many ways, you feel for Chatham as they (like Aveley) always go to amazing lengths to get their ground playable.

Groundsman Barry Adams, chairman Jeff Talbot and other helpers worked tirelessly to get the Maidstone Road pitch playable ahead of the game and they were rewarded with what was described as "Chatham Town’s worst performance of the season."

Aveley skipper Billy Holland gave his side a sixteenth minute lead from 30-yards and it stayed that way until the 62nd minute when Junior Baker headed the second.

Winger Marcus Elliott slid in the third just before the hour-mark.

Petrit Elbi was gifted a fourth, before Elliott scored his 12th goal of the season to wrap up a miserable day for Watson.

The result means that Aveley are now in the play-off places and everything to play for in 2015.
