SHAW primary pupil Samuel Urand is only ten years of age but he is taking on the mighty challenge of running 3 kilometres for charity.
Recently, the school in South Ockendon held a diabetes awareness day and took a great interest in it.
Sam’s mother, Lisa said: "Sam learned that there was also a girl in his school named Bethany who is a suffer.
"This really hit home with Samuel and he decided that he would like to help. He chose to do a "Junior Nuts Challenge"which will take place on March 7th.
Sam will have to run 3k (a long distance for a boy that age). There will be mud and obstacles.
