THE THURROCK Council licensing committee has "revoked" the licence of the Queens public house in Clarence Road, Grays.

In a two hour meeting at the civic offices in Grays, the cross party three man committee, listened to evidence from Essex Police, the licence holder from the Queens pub in Clarence Road and local residents.

As you can see from our fifteen minute film, the manager of the public house, John Harris, was at pains to point out that much of the evidence and many of the incidents referred to were outside the pub.

Mr Harris felt that many of the sins of Grays were being visited on his public house.

Essex Police detailed incident after incident that they alleged refer to the premises.

The two local residents that attended also detailed a number of incidents that they described as anti-social behaviour.

The committee decided to revoke the licence of the pub describing Mr Harris as being "in denial". But they did inform him that he had the right to appeal to a magistrates court.
