Specsavers make a grand effort for Comic Relief

THURROCK eyecare experts broke the £1000 fundraising mark for this year’s Red Nose Day appeal.

The teams from Specsavers stores in Grays and intu Lakeside Shopping Centre raised £1021.36 for this year’s appeal through the sale of their Red Nose Day novelty specs and in-store initiatives, including a bake sale and selfie drive.

Niki Kaur, store director at Specsavers in Grays, says: ‘We had a lot of fun championing Red Nose Day in the community and encouraging residents to make their faces funny for money in the name of Comic Relief. When realised we had raised a four figure sum, we were over the moon.’

Jay Visrolia, store director at Specsavers in intu Lakeside, adds: ‘Thank you to everyone who donated to Red Nose Day. Thanks to your support, these vital funds will go towards creating a brighter future for people in need at home and across Africa.’

The public were encouraged to make their faces funny for money for Red Nose Day, which took place on Friday 13 March.

Visitors to Specsavers in Grays and intu Lakeside got into the spirit of Red Nose Day by making their faces funny for money with Specsavers’ Red Nose Day glasses, in sizes large and small, for just £3, with £1 donated to Comic Relief.

Specsavers stores in Thurrock joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa. Together, stores across the country raised £351,123 for Red Nose Day.
