    Pop up advice sessions for people seeking work experience and volunteering are being organised by Thurrock Council’s libraries team.

    The libraries are looking for people who would like to support the running of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge in July and August.

    The volunteering opportunity is for people aged between 13 and 24 who are keen and enthusiastic to support the library staff.

    The annual Summer Reading Challenge is for children and young adults.

    If interested, people can drop in to the special pop up sessions during May to pick up an application form and ask staff questions about what is involved and what help is expected..

    Forms are also available online at www.thurrock.gov.uk/volunteering and can be handed in at these sessions or at your local library until 13 June.

    Those volunteering do not have to be a great reader, but enjoying reading is always a bonus along with good listening and communications skills.

    The sessions are:

    Monday, 18 May: Grays Library 3pm to 4.30pm;

    Tuesday, 19 May: Corringham Library 3pm to 4.30pm;

    Wednesday, 20 May: Chadwell Information Centre 2.30pm to 4.30pm;

    Tuesday, 26 May: Blackshots Library 2.30pm to 4.30pm;

    Thursday, 28 May: South Ockendon Centre 2.30pm to 4.00pm; and

    Friday, 29 May: Stanford-le-Hope Library 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
