Benyon Primary as Ofsted praises "positive culture" in glowing report

BENYON Primary School was inspected by Ofsted on 18th-19th March 2015. Following the publication of the report on Monday, Mrs Tyler, Chair of the Catalyst Academies Trust which sponsors Benyon, told us that “we are extremely pleased and proud to be able to report to you that the school has been judged to be ‘Good’ for overall effectiveness and ‘Good’ in all areas: leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and Early Years provision.”

Mrs Sansom, Headteacher at Benyon since September 2011, commented “To have improved from ‘Serious Weaknesses’ to ‘Good’ in only two years is a truly fantastic achievement and a real reflection of the hard work and dedication shown by everyone connected with the school: children, staff, parents/carers, governors, Catalyst Academies Trust and external agencies who work in partnership with us.”

Ofsted judged that Mrs Sansom has built a very positive culture based on a shared vision communicated through the school’s logo: ‘Perseverance brings success!’ They also judged that “pupils have very positive attitudes towards learning. Their behaviour is good because they have strong relationships with adults, who expect the highest standards of behaviour from them.”

Mrs Sansom said that the whole school community is now looking forward to continuing the improvement journey together and building on this fantastic success.
