ON Thursday 21st May 2015, BBC’s The Voice will be coming to Traitor’s Gate pub, Grays to film potential contestants for Season 5 of the popular BBC TV show, focussed on singing talent.
Ian Hurd, an Essex based music promoter, who’s new talent show at Traitor’s Gate starts on the same evening, was contacted by the BBC and arranged for them to visit to view first hand the vocal talent of Grays and the surrounding area.
Ian says “The BBC found my contact details online and asked if they could come down. Of course I was delighted, especially as this is the first of many similar events I am putting on at Traitor’s Gate.
"The Talent show was booked to run for a finite period, with a prize of a recording in my recording studio or to have a professional video made. That’s still on offer but pale’s in comparison to what could be achieved by getting on The Voice.
"I strongly urge all local singing talent to take up this great opportunity, which could set them on a path to national, even international stardom and the career they’ve always wanted”.
The event is completely free, and open to everyone, though under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
"All potential participants are asked to turn up on the evening before the 8pm start to get on the list and have a chance to perform one or two songs, either with an instrument or backing track on a suitable device with a headphone output (for example, CD’s, usb’s and the like will not be adequate). Stripped-down groups are also welcome if the singer has a backing band.
