HEALTH campaigners are calling on Conservative MP Jackie Doyle-Price to meet them outside the doomed Thurrock NHS walk in centre to collect a petition signed by thousands calling on her to demand that David Cameron uses his veto to stop, what they see, the irreversible sell-off of the NHS.

Earlier in the year hundreds of Thurrock residents raised “Stop the NHS Sale” estate agency style boards on their property, to show their clear opposition to the NHS being included in the EU-US trade deal called TTIP, which threatens to lead to the irreversible privatisation of the NHS.

Now, thousands of residents who are outraged by imminent closure of the Thurrock walk in centre have signed a petition against privatisation and TTIP. The campaigners are assembling outside the Thurrock walk in centre to urge their local MP to demand that David Cameron uses his veto to protect our NHS from the US trade deal TTIP.

Ron Singer from the People’s NHS said: “The People’s NHS will be out in full force outside the doomed Thurrock walk-in centre to oppose the irreversible sell-off of our NHS and to urge Jackie Price Doyle to demand that David Cameron uses his veto to get the NHS out of TTIP.”

“Health campaigners and local communities across the UK have been taking a stand against the NHS being part of TTIP. Many Tory MPs are fully aware of the local opposition to the inclusion of the NHS in the deal.

“David Cameron has run out of excuses. He can protect the NHS by using his veto in Europe to get our health service out of the trade deal called TTIP. It’s time David Cameron put the NHS ahead of the interests of US corporations.”

When: 12pm Friday 12th of June
