WITH just two weeks remaining to enter Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2015, the competition’s ambassador Emma Bunton is calling on all glass wearers to sign up.
Earlier this spring, former Spice Girl and Heart Radio DJ helped Specsavers launch its annual awards, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. She’s urging specs wearers in Thurrock to share their selfies to be in with a chance of winning £10,000 in cash and a dream stay at the Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas.
Emma says: ‘I love my specs and have been wearing them more and more often recently. I think they’re so stylish, they really add to an outfit.’
Emma will present the lucky winner with their prize, including the coveted Spectacle Wearer of the Year Award, at a star-studded event in central London this October.
Niki Kaur, store director at Specsavers in Grays, says: ‘We’ve seen some brilliant local entries, but Specsavers stores in Grays and intu Lakeside Shopping Centre want to give a final shout out to people in the area and encourage those specs wearers who haven’t already given it a go to enter.
‘The competition closes on Sunday 5 July, so this really is the last chance to put your best specs forward and be in with a chance of winning a fabulous prize.’
For each entry made £1 will be donated to the anti-bullying charity Kidscape. The money raised will help to support them in providing training, support and advice for children, parents, schools and those who may be affected by cases of bullying and abuse in the UK.
There are five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public. A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and will mingle with celebrities at an awards ceremony in London in October.
