ENQUIRIES are continuing into a collision involving three lorries on the M25 in Thurrock this morning.
Emergency services were contacted at 4.40am to reports of a collision just after junction 30.
One lorry driver was trapped and he was released by the fire service before being taken to hospital.
He suffered leg injuries that were not thought to be serious.
Two lorries and a number of wooden pallets had to be cleared from the road and the clockwise section at junction 30, near the junction with the A282, was shut until about 1.50pm.
After the vehicles were removed, Essex Police handed the scene over to the Highways Agency at 11.55am to assess any damage to the road, and officers also assisted with rolling road blocks.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Chigwell road policing unit on 101.

Statement from East of England Ambulance Service
The East of England Ambulance Service was called to a road traffic collision on the M25 at junction 30 near Grays at 4.40am today (Thursday 18th June). An ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) vehicle, Magpas medical team car, a rapid response vehicle and two ambulance officers attended the scene and treated one man with leg injuries. He was taken to Derwent Valley Hospital for further care.

Essex Fire Service statement:
"Firefighters are working to release a casualty trapped following an RTC involving two lorries on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at junction 31. Crews are using a platform to reach the cab of the vehicle where the casualty is trapped and specialist cutting equipment to release them.
As of 07:15hrs crews report that they are making steady progress in their efforts to release the casualty and that the clockwise carriageway of the M25 is closed due to this incident,
Update 07:30hrs: The casualty has been released by firefighters. He was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
Assistant Divisional Officer John Harris said: "This was a complex operation. The cab of the lorry was extremely badly damaged and the casualty severely trapped. We worked with paramedics to release the man and as soon as he was out he was taken from the scene by Ambulance."
The M25 remains closed clockwise.
