A CONSULTANT radiologist at Basildon University Hospital has the honour of being named editor of the Royal College of Radiologists’ newsletter.

Qaiser Malik, clinical lead for diagnostic imaging, applied for the two-year post as editor of the RCR newsletter, which is distributed nationally and internationally to 9,600 radiologists and clinical oncologists.

Having passed a rigorous selection process, his appointment came in time to launch a special commemorative issue celebrating the 40th anniversary of the college gaining it’s royal title.

He said: “I’m thrilled to have been successful in gaining this prestigious post and it is a great reflection on Basildon Hospital. I will be editing eight issues and will regularly meet the college president, elected officers and the college communications team.

“Nationally there are many challenges facing radiology and oncology and as the demand for imaging grows, it is gaining a higher profile in the healthcare sector. It is a fascinating time to be involved with the newsletter in the hope we can reflect and influence the changes to come.”
