THE BOMB Squad were called to Purfleet Heritage Museum today (Thursday) after two suspected live shells had been handed in.
The shells had been handed in on Sunday but staff became suspicious that they could be live.
Essex Police and the Bomb Squad were called to the centre on Centurion Way at 11am.
An area was cordoned off until it was confirmed that the two shells (tank and artillery) were not live.
The cordon was lifted at 3pm.
