ON SATURDAY morning in the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury, a plaque marking the daring feats of german service man, Gunther Pluschow, was unveiled.
Pluschow was the only German prisoner-of-war to escape from Britain. The key part of his passage was his journey through Tilbury.
Members of the Circle of Friends of Gunther Pluschow, the German Naval Attache, the mayor of Thurrock, cllr Sue Gray and the Thurrock MP, Jackie Doyle-Price gathered to commemorate a remarkable man.
In our film, letters from the family of Gunther Pluschow, now living in Canada are read out.
